Alaska
Kenai Peninsula
Tuition: $4,500 (includes roundtrip flight from Williamstown, MA) |
Snowcapped mountains, glacier lakes and the striking beauty of the natural world typify the United States’ largest and wildest state. The peninsula extends approximately 150 miles southwest from the Chugach Mountains, south of Anchorage. It is separated from the mainland on the west by the Cook Inlet and on the east by Prince William Sound. The Kenai is an extraordinary place – expansive skies, immense landforms and some of the most generous people on the North American continent.
During the first week the group will be staying in Girdwood, and during the second week the group will be staying in Homer and Seward. They will be working primarily with the National Forest Service, Alaska Maritime Wildlife Refugee and Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, as well as various museums and other marine life centers.
Depending on the group, they may camp for part of the trip. Along with service work, the group
will hike, ride on trams, take glacier boats rides, kayak, and go swimming – to name a few!
