About the Redwoods

Coast redwoods, the world's tallest trees - soaring as high as 380 feet - grow in the moist, temperate climate of California's North Coast. The commonly live 600 years - though some have been around for 2,000 years. In the park's backcountry, you might spot mountain loins, black bears, black-tailed deer, river otters, beavers, and minks. Roosevelt elk roam the flatlands, and rivers and streams teem with salmon and trout. Gray whales, seals, and sea lions cavort near the coastline.

Service Projects

The group will primarily assist the Redwoods National and State Parks Service in a variety of conservation efforts ranging from trail maintenance, exotic plant control, beach grass removal and non-native species removal. The group will also have the opportunity to volunteer with the National Fish and Wildlife Refugee in Eureka, and spend time working with the Redwood Community Action Agency in Arcadia.

Fun Activities

Along with service work the group will have the opportunity to go biking, fishing, hiking, kayaking, whalewatching, river rafting, visit museums in the local communities, and even have the opportunity to ride the airtram above the treetops!
